A country music FM station licensed to Pendleton, Oregon, and serving the greater Walla Walla, Washington, area under the brand "K-Wheat." It is owned by Elkhorn Media Group (through licensee EMG2, LLC), operated by Randolph and Debra McKone. The station signed on in 1984 after receiving its construction permit in 1980 under the original call letters KFMT. AgPal Broadcasting, owned by two Pendleton couples, acquired the permit in early 1984, renamed it KWHT, and obtained its license to cover that October. The station changed ownership again in 1998 when Capps Broadcast Group acquired it and surrounding properties, then sold KWHT along with nine other broadcast assets to Elkhorn Media Group on November 1, 2017, for a combined price of $1.75 million. Programming includes syndicated country music content from the Westwood One Radio Network, such as "America's Grand Ole Opry Weekend." KWHT shares a studio facility at the west end of Eastern Oregon Regional Airport with sister stations KTIX and KUMA, serving listeners across a wide swath of eastern Oregon and southeastern Washington.
