The station was originally assigned the call letters KYYK on July 1, 1987, before switching to the current KNET designation on September 21, 1987. For decades it operated a news and talk format, then flipped to its current classic hits programming on April 6, 2022. Weekday programming includes a locally produced morning show and syndicated content such as "Steve Gorman Rocks," hosted by a co-founding member and former drummer of the Black Crowes. Saturday programming features "American Top 40: 70s" and other countdown programs. The station also airs local news, sports coverage including local high school athletics, regional weather, and Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story."
