A student-run, internet-only streaming radio station affiliated with the University of Notre Dame. The station traces its origins to the Notre Dame Radio Club, which established the university's first AM broadcast operation at 640 kHz under the call sign WSND-AM. In 1984, the call letters were changed to WVFI — standing for The Voice of the Fighting Irish — in connection with an application for an FM license. Three years later, in 1987, WVFI separated from what became WSND-FM and relocated its operations to the LaFortune Student Center. In 2000, the station transitioned entirely to online broadcasting, ending over-the-air transmission. Programming encompasses music, talk shows, and sports coverage. In 2018, the station relocated again to purpose-built studios on the second floor of the Duncan Student Center. A dedicated sports streaming channel, WVFI Sports, launched in 2024. The station functions as one of the larger student organizations on campus, with approximately 150 students involved in its operations across on-air performance, production, and management roles.
