WKDD 98.1 FM

A commercial radio station licensed to Munroe Falls, Ohio, and owned by iHeartMedia. Broadcasting under the brand "98.1 KDD," the station carries a hot adult contemporary format and serves the Akron-Canton metropolitan area with additional reach into Greater Cleveland and surrounding Northeast Ohio. Studios are located in North Canton while the transmitter operates from Cuyahoga Falls. Beyond its standard analog signal, the station broadcasts across two HD Radio subchannels and streams nationally through the iHeartRadio platform. The station's history begins in 1960, when Edwin Mortenson constructed a 50,000-watt FM outlet at 98.1 MHz under the callsign WTOF, which stood for "Tower of Faith." The station broadcast Christian programming for decades and was the first property in what became Mortenson Broadcasting. In 1985 it was rebranded WTOF-FM following brief concurrent ownership of WTOF on 900 AM. In 1997, Mortenson sold the station to Salem Communications, which renamed it WHK-FM and simulcast it with its AM sister station WHK (1420), carrying religious and nationally syndicated content including the daily program of pastor Alistair Begg. The station later transitioned through additional ownership and format changes before arriving at its current hot adult contemporary positioning under iHeartMedia.
