The station signed on the air on September 1, 1966, as KULA, initially simulcasting country music programming with AM sister station KVEG (970 AM). Around 1980, it became KENO-FM, matching the Top 40 format of AM sister station KENO (1460 AM) and affiliating with the ABC Contemporary Network.
