A nonprofit educational FM radio station operating at 88.1 MHz and run by students of Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois. The station launched in January 1968 as a 10-watt facility on the third floor of the Vaughan Building at LTHS' North Campus, transmitting on 88.3 MHz before shifting to 88.1 in 1969 to avoid adjacent-channel conflicts with WHSD in Hinsdale. Original studio furniture was donated by local station WTAQ. The signal was monophonic until the mid-1980s, when a license upgrade permitted higher power operation using a new circularly polarized directional antenna, increasing output to 180 watts ERP. The directional pattern is oriented primarily south and southeast to protect neighboring stations including WETN at Wheaton College on the same frequency, as well as WDGC on 88.3 and WHSD on 88.5. Studios relocated from the original room to Room 9 of the North Campus main building. The station has accumulated multiple national and local awards over its history and continues to operate as a fully student-run organization, offering programming that spans music discovery, student-produced podcasts, and public affairs content. Both on-air performance and technical operations are managed by student staff, with the station serving as a practical broadcast training environment within the high school setting.
