Originally a community broadcaster on AM 910 kHz, this station surrendered its AM license on May 4, 2020, after transitioning its operations to FM. The FM station began broadcasting in 2008 and continues to serve as the primary public radio outlet for a vast and sparsely populated region of the Alaskan interior. Owned and operated by Big River Public Broadcasting Corporation, the station defines its mission as binding the Western Koyukon Region together through informative, entertaining, cultural, and educational programming uniquely tailored to the region's present and future needs. This remote area of Alaska—commonly referred to as the Alaska Bush—encompasses communities with limited access to other broadcast media, making the station a critical communications resource.
