After the Detroit station changed hands and later adopted a country format as WYCD, the WABX call sign was briefly assigned to a 990 AM frequency in Michigan before ceasing operations in 1988. The current station's logo is closely modeled on the Detroit WABX branding from the 1970s, deliberately evoking that heritage.
