The original studio was housed in the basement of the Cooper Hotel in Colby, Kansas, where the station initially identified itself as Ranch and Farm Radio before adopting the Town and Country Radio brand. Nationally recognized personalities among the original staff included John B. Hughes, Johnny Pearson, and Jerry Oppy. In July 1963 the station affiliated with the CBS radio network, extending its national reach during the heyday of network radio affiliation. During the late 1980s it operated within the Kansas-based LS Network, a group of stations assembled by radio entrepreneur Larry Steckline. Currently owned by Kansas Broadcast Company, LLC, the station carries a farm and classic country format and serves as the flagship outlet of the Kansas Farm and Ranch Radio Network.
