A low-power community radio station operating at 88.1 FM in Charleston, West Virginia, licensed to Masque Informed, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The station is entirely volunteer-run and broadcasts locally while also streaming globally via its website and mobile app. It launched with a soft opening on June 14, 2015, followed by an official debut on July 11, 2015, from The Union Building downtown. In 2022 it relocated to The People's Building on Summers Street, maintaining continuous 24/7 broadcasting throughout the transition. Programming follows a freeform philosophy, encompassing doo-wop, hip-hop, funk, punk, reggae, dub, metal, folk, Americana, alternative, and indie rock. Talk programming includes the syndicated Democracy Now! on weekdays. A roster of nearly 40 volunteer DJs host weekly on-air shifts covering afternoons, evenings, and weekend dayparts. The station uses an in-house automation system called DJ OTTO for unattended hours and runs a secondary stream, CharlesTunes, dedicated to local and regional artists. In 2023, the station hosted the Grassroots Radio Conference, drawing community radio practitioners from across the country. The station also participates in the Emergency Alert System and airs National Weather Service reports.
