A low-power FM radio station broadcasting classic country, bluegrass, and Americana music, owned and operated by the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. The station went on air for the first time in August 2015 as a functioning exhibit within the museum itself, using vintage restored broadcasting equipment. Planning for the station began in late 2013, with a construction permit issued on March 13, 2014, following an application during the FCC's October 2013 LPFM filing window. Tony Lawson, founder of Knoxville's WDVX, was hired as station manager in March 2015 to build the station and media center from the ground up. The station's signature program, Farm and Fun Time, is a live musical variety show reviving a program that originally aired on Bristol's WCYB from the 1940s to the 1960s; the current version records and broadcasts live monthly from the historic stage at Paramount Bristol and is distributed to more than 140 PBS television stations nationally. Additional programming includes Radio Bristol Sessions, recorded live from the museum's performance theater. The station supports community radio through listener memberships and a donor recognition program called the Radio Bristol Record Breakers.
