Broadcasting at 93.3 FM and licensed to Bowling Green, Kentucky, WDNS operates under the D93 brand with a classic rock format. The station is owned by the Daily News Broadcasting Company, which also operates News Talk Information station WKCT at 930 AM. Both stations share studios on College Street in downtown Bowling Green, with the WDNS transmitter positioned along Iron Bridge Road adjacent to the Barren River southeast of the city. The station first went to air on March 14, 1973, at 98.3 MHz, initially carrying a beautiful music format before transitioning to adult contemporary programming in the early 1980s under the D-98 brand. In 1989 it shifted to album-oriented rock, and by 1991 had settled into the classic rock format it has maintained continuously since. When Hot AC-formatted WQXE in Elizabethtown requested the 98.3 MHz frequency in 1995, WDNS moved to its current 93.3 MHz position. Programming on WDNS focuses on classic rock music from the 1970s through the 1990s, with locally hosted weekday shows supplemented by syndicated content from Westwood One and the United Stations Radio Network, including Steve Gorman Rocks! and Nights with Alice Cooper. A distinctive weekly offering is The Lowdown HoeDown, airing Monday nights and hosted by Grammy and CMA award-winning guitarist Greg Martin of the Kentucky HeadHunters; the program explores the roots of rock music through a blues lens. In 2016 the station entered a two-year agreement to broadcast high school football games for the Bowling Green Purples, making it the only FM station in the market to carry those games.
