A commercial modern rock FM station serving the Bend, Oregon area, branded as 92/9. The station broadcasts rock music spanning five decades of sub-genres, mixing recent releases with classic material. Local hosts provide entertainment coverage and local news alongside specialty programs including a weekly local music showcase, a reggae program called Simmer Down with the Colonel, and a jam band show. The station's history began at 94.1 MHz under the call letters KXIQ, branded in the 1980s and early 1990s as Q94 with a Top 40 format. It shifted to rock briefly before converting to hot adult contemporary as Mix 94 under the KXIX call sign in 1994. A further format change in 1996 introduced the Modern Rock X94 brand, which later evolved back toward a broader rock orientation. In July 2002, KXIX returned to Top 40 as Power 94, becoming one of the most-listened-to stations in Central Oregon. In July 2010, the 94.1 KXIX and 92.7 KRXF Sunriver facilities swapped, moving Power 94 to a Class C2 at 94.1 while the 92.7 facility became a Class C0 at 92.9. On July 11, 2010, KRXF formally moved to 92.9 FM and adopted the 92/9 modern rock branding it carries today.
