This community radio station began broadcasting in 1983. Initially, its broadcasts originated from the Odeon Plaza. By the late 1980s, a relocation was necessary, leading to a new base at the Caledonian Building on Penola Road. In the mid-1990s, the station acquired its current permanent home at 25 Alexander Street, a move facilitated by the Board of Management and the City Council following the sale of the previous building. The station operates under the slogan "It's your choice."
